Electricity North West started to install 2.3km of new and efficient underground electricity cable in July and the project will ensure that power keeps flowing, phones are fully charged and the box sets are streaming for almost 2,000 homes in the area.

Tom Woolley, secondary network south programme manager for Electricity North West, said: “Electricity is often taken for granted and it is something we all rely on for every aspect of our daily lives.

“This is why we are proud to have invested in this essential upgrade project to ensure local customers continue to get the power they need and when they need it for years to come.

“We were also delighted to be able to support and work with the local Macclesfield Sheepdog Trials in August by stopping our work briefly to allow for the event to take place.”

David Rutley, MP for Macclesfield, said: “I am pleased to see the significant investment by Electricity North West to upgrade the electricity supply infrastructure for local residents in Wildboarclough.

“This important work will have clear benefits for the community, with a more reliable electricity supply helping to ensure that local residents’ needs continue to be met into the future.”
