More than £3.5m is being invested in the local power network to replace pylons and overhead power lines which have been keeping the electricity flowing in Salford for 85 years.
Engineers from the region’s power network operator Electricity North West are replacing 4.2km of overhead power lines and seven pylons between Kearsley and Agecroft.
The essential project, which begins this week, will help ensure that power keeps flowing, phones are fully charged and the box sets are streaming for more than 88,000 homes in the area.
Paul McGonigle, transmission circuits delivery manager, for Electricity North West, said: “Electricity is often taken for granted and it is something we all rely on for every aspect of our daily lives.
“This is why we are proud to be working and investing in this essential upgrade project to ensure local customers continues to get the power they need and when they need it for years to come.”
Residents will see engineers in the area and the work is expected to take around eight weeks. If customers have any queries about the project, they can call Electricity North West on 105 or follow @ElectricityNW.
