£500,000 power project comes to Ambleside

Electricity North West is investing £500,000 to upgrade the power network which supplies electricity to more than 4,000 customers in Ambleside, Cumbria.

This month engineers will start to replace aging equipment at a local substation on McIver Lane which has kept the lights on in the area for the past 60 years.

The essential four-month project will help ensure thousands of homes and businesses receive a reliable power supply now and for years to come.

Tony Clayton, major project delivery manager for Electricity North West, said: “We’re committed to ensuring that our customers receive the power they need to their homes and businesses and this essential project in Ambleside will help make this happen.

“Our engineers will be working in the area to replace aging electricity equipment which has served the area well since around 1962.

“We’ll do the work as quickly as we can to minimise disruption and we hope local customers understand the need for this essential project and we would like to thank them in advance for their cooperation.”
