Electricity North West has announced its latest call for apprentices as it looks to invest in the next generation of engineers to operate and maintain the network that keeps power flowing around the region.
The power network operator is now on the hunt for budding apprentices with 33 roles up for grabs as part of its latest recruitment drive.
The new roles will play a key part in the network’s ambition to lead the North West to net zero while keeping its costs down.
Open to people aged 16 and above, successful applicants will be in training for up to three years at the power network operator’s state-of-the-art training academy as well as various depots throughout the region.
Ian Smyth, Electricity North West’s Chief Executive, said: “We deliver one of the most reliable electricity networks in the country and this latest recruitment drive is a testament to our ongoing investment in the region.
“Our new intake of apprentices will play a crucial role in enabling more people to adopt low carbon technologies such as electric heat pumps and electric vehicles.”
Electricity North West’s apprenticeship programme has earned the highly prestigious North West Recruitment Excellence Award at the National Apprenticeship Awards with the judges praising its focus on inclusion and diversity, school engagement and career progression.
Electricity North West welcomes applications from people from a range of backgrounds and supports individual’s development through its diversity programmes.

Apprenticeships available include IT project management and cyber security, civil engineering, operational engineers, design engineers, underground cable jointers and overhead line workers.
