In response to the weather warning issued by the Met Office, engineers inspected and protected key substations to help maintain supplies to Cumbria’s homes and businesses. Generators had also been located in the County’s towns to enable rapid deployment if required.
Engineers quickly restored supplies to the small number of customers who were without power earlier today and vulnerable customers have also been proactively contacted by the Company.
The Company successfully protected substations that were at risk as a result of flooding from the River Douglas at Croston and this protected supplies to thousands of homes in that area.
The Company is appealing to any customers who are still off supply to get in touch. Customers who have been flooded but did not lose power supply are also asked to contact the Company as safety checks should be carried out on your electricity connection. “We understand how difficult it is to also lose power and that’s why we’re pleased to have protected supplies for our customers today. We’d like to thank our customers for their patience and support in what has been a challenging time for the communities in our region.”
