• Lancaster and surrounding area urged to continue reducing power over next few hours
• Managed power cuts may be needed to reduce strain on the network while repairs continue
• 1,047 remain without power in Cumbria

Mark Williamson, operations director at Electricity North West, said: "Over the next few hours is when we usually see the highest demand on the network while people cook food and switch their lights on. We're urging customers to continue to reduce their electricity use over this time to reduce the need for any planned outages.

"We are closely monitoring energy demand on the main substation serving the area and are hoping not to have to need any planned outages while our engineers restore the substation to its full capacity."

Electricity North West advise customers to limit use of washing machines, dishwashers, tumble driers and other appliances that use large amounts of power.

Mark added: "We have had teams working round the clock at the substation since Saturday to get it back to its usual operating capacity to fully secure power supplies to the area. I'd like to thank everyone again for their understanding as we carry out this difficult and complex job to repair the damage done by the floodwater."

Teams from Electricity North West are also working around the clock in Cumbria to restore power to the remaining 1,047 properties affected in the county after flooding cut power to a number of local substations.
