Electricity North West has 23 vacancies up for grabs across its craft and higher-level apprenticeship scheme.
The award-winning scheme is now in its 12th year and more than 200 apprentices have successfully passed through the programme.
Open to people from the age of 16, successful applicants will be in training for three years at Electricity North West’s state-of-the-art Training Academy as well as various depots throughout the region.
Peter Emery, CEO at Electricity North West, said: “Our apprenticeship scheme has been a roaring success and it’s a programme that we are extremely proud of.
“Each year, it continues to grow and last year, we had a record number of applicants and it’s looking like we’ll have even more applications this year.
“We’re looking for people from across the North West to come and join and help us to continue to deliver an essential, safe and innovative service for many years to come.
“Last year, we launched our ambitious £63.5m ‘Leading the North West to zero carbon’ plan which will transform the region, it’s certainly an exciting time to join and I look forward to meeting our workforce of the future.”
Apprenticeships available include project co-ordinators, operational engineers, control engineers, design engineers, jointers or overhead line workers.
Last September, Electricity North West’s apprenticeship programme scooped the award for ‘Best Learning and Development Initiative’ at the People in Power Awards, organised by the National Skills Academy for Power.
The award celebrates initiatives that have significantly benefited the learning and development of a workforce.
Matthew James, a first-year higher-level apprentice, added: “I knew joining a company as big as Electricity North West would be thoroughly challenging, yet the support and guidance offered makes it a really enjoyable experience and one I’d recommend to anyone.
“The development opportunities are brilliant, and I am constantly given opportunities to accrue new skills. For instance, on the very first week I became first aid trained!
“The apprenticeship programme in my opinion is a no brainer. Through completion you gain professional experience, professional qualifications and best of all, a career for life.”
