The regions power network operator, Electricity North West, will continue to closely monitor the weather and have engineers and extra call centre staff on hand to help keep the lights on, repair any potential damage and answer customer enquiries.
The power network is resilient and more than £130m has been invested in upgrading and maintaining the power lines and underground cables across the North West in the last year.
Severe weather may cause power outages due to fallen trees and flying debris damaging overhead power lines and making it difficult for engineers to climb.
Chris Fox, Systems Manager for Electricity North West, said: “We are closely monitoring the weather and we’ve taken extra measures to get ready in case severe weather hits our region.
“I want to reassure our customers that we are on hand and we’re doing everything we can to protect the network.
“We are here 24 hours day seven days a week so please contact us if you need any advice or information.”
If you see power lines down please stay away and report it to Electricity North West immediately on 0800 195 4141.
