Engineers from Electricity North West are continuing to work into the night to restore power to the final few hundred properties affected by Storm Arwen.
Since the storm hit the country on Friday evening, over 119,000 properties in the North West have been without power at some point and Electricity North West has already restored power to over 118,000. The company is committed to restoring power to the remaining 700 properties, predominantly based in Cumbria, as a matter of urgency.
Stephanie Trubshaw, Electricity North West’s Customer Director and Incident Manager, said: “Our teams have worked tirelessly to restore power to customers impacted by Storm Arwen in our region.
“We are supplying generators to areas where the damage is too complex for an immediate repair to ensure customers have electricity as soon as possible. You may see our teams around for the next few weeks while they work to carry out permanent repairs, but you will have a generator to supply electricity to you throughout.
“Once the permanent repair is completed you may experience a very short power cut while we switch from generator to mains supply.”
Customers who experience a power cut after their electricity has been restored are asked to wait 30 minutes to allow the changeover to happen and to check trip switches. If they remain without power after this they should call 105 to report this.
Electricity North West is continuing to provide respite centres and food vans for impacted customers in Cumbria. The full list of available locations is listed on the company’s website.
