ScottishPower’s electricity distribution network businesses are delivering strong and sector-leading performance as they pump billions of pounds into upgrading the grid, the energy regulator has confirmed. SP Energy Networks (SPEN) and SP Electricity North West (SP ENW) were recognised in Ofgem’s latest annual report, which covers the second year of the RIIO-ED2 price control and assesses individual distribution network operators (DNOs) across a range of measures including reliability, customer service, environment, innovation and expenditure. SPEN and SP ENW will invest more than £5 billion in regional electricity networks between 2023 and 2028. The companies claimed the top two spots in Ofgem’s reliability assessment, which saw them reduce the number and length of power cuts experienced by customers. They also placed in the top three for customer satisfaction and delivering for vulnerable customers, with solid and improving performance driving high scores. The report notes that both companies are on track to manage asset risks as expected over the five-year period of the price control. Nicola Connelly, CEO Of SP Energy Networks, said: “It’s encouraging to see the positive progress and tangible impact of our ED2 investment recognised by Ofgem across all three of our DNOs as we work to deliver the modern, resilient and reliable electricity network our customers and communities need. “There’s lots more to do to, which is why we’re continuing to work with the regulator to deliver against our ambitious £5.3 billion investment plans, create jobs and opportunities, and help steer the nation towards a cleaner and greener future.” Stephanie Trubshaw, Chief Operating Officer for SP ENW said: “We’re delighted our strong performance has been recognised. We’re now halfway through our five-year £2 billion investment programme, which is delivering huge improvements that are being recognised by our customers. We’re speeding up domestic customer connections, continuing to invest in good jobs and delivering high satisfaction, which is exactly what we set out to do in this business plan. |
